When I first heard of essential oils, I admit I was a little skeptical. But once I started using them, my whole view on them changed. Obviously essential oils can’t cure everything, and antibiotics and other medications are needed for certain conditions, but there has been some great benefits I have received from using essential oils, and I wanted to share them with you!
I plan on writing a whole post on how much I love this stuff, because there is SO many things that I use it for. But for now, I will touch on just a few.
Some things that I have used lavender oil for and have had great success are:
-Helping with sleep ( both myself and my step son). I either diffuse it, or mix it with coconut oil and rub it on my feet.
-Massage oil – Mix with coconut oil and use as a massage oil.
– Anxiety – When work gets stressful, I open the lid to my lavender oil and inhale a couple of times to help relax my nerves.
– Air freshener – I love diffusing lavender oil in my home because it smells SO good!
In my opinion, thieves oil reminds me of Christmas. I love the smell of it. I use it for:
-Cleaning – It is a great chemical free cleaner!
-Immune booster – I put a drop or two in hot water, and ad a drop of lemon oil and honey and it makes a yummy tea that helps boost your immune system!
I don’t use too many EO’s while pregnant, but peppermint oil has been my go to! I love using it for:
-HEADACHES! – I swear by peppermint oil for headaches! Just mix a drop of two with a carrier oil, and rub on forehead, temples, and or neck. It is a great way to help a headache without using medication
-Upset stomach or morning sickness – just open the bottle and breath in a couple breaths of the scent, and it helps ease a queasy stomach.
-Sunburns – I mix a couple of drops of peppermint oil into a spray bottle with some water, and spray it on my sunburn to help take away some of the sting.
-Water enhancer – I put a drop in my bottle of water and it adds flavor! It is way easier than carrying around lemon wedges.
-Energy – I diffuse lemon oil and it helps make me feel energized.
-Fragrance – When I diffuse lemon oil it makes my house smell fresh and clean! When mixed with grapefruit or orange oil, it adds an extra fresh scent!
I could go on and on about how many uses I get out of essential oils, but I am going to leave it at that for now. The essential oils I have talked about are generally safe for pregnancy, but I do use them sparingly. I also never consume EO’s while I am pregnant.
